Since it is best to have a focus, the user can see a dropdown list of four topics noted to interfere with sleep. This listing is for the user to focus but has no interaction with the technology of the product. However, there are more subtle ways to determine a focus. One, the user can focus on a topic of his/her own decision and push the “+” to the tone and determine the relationship of the tone increase and the severity in arousal related to the topic. A more subtle way, especially with infants and children would be to attach a temperature probe to one of the fingers of the child. An increase in the tone would activate a lower temperature reading (greater stress). Regardless of what method is used, the point in which there is increase in stress would the final setting for the Tone.

The selection for the “Enrichment” setting is the opposite method. The range of this frequency is set on a variety of relaxation states on the brain, so as an adult, the individual adds enrichment intensity, which adds a binaural frequency. The result would be a reduction of stress. In the case of the subtler forms there will be higher temperature readings. The moment the stress is notable, the setting is used. NOTE: This setting may be changed between sessions or even during a session because more settings may be discovered.
